Dopo aver parlato degli Oscar, diamo un’occhiata ai premi della 37ma edizione della consegna degli Annie Awards, avvenuta un paio di giorni fa alla Royce Hall dell’UCLA Campus.

    Oggi mi aspetto che qualcuno parli di qualcosa di più impegnativo dei pinguini, mentre tutti si sderenano a minimizzare quello che finalmente ieri abbiamo saputo a chiare lettere.
    Mi preoccupo per i famigliari di Ciancimino. Ora passerà all’attacco chi l’ha minaccia, i fondatori del “partitone” (una volta si diceva così del PCI). Ma per fortuna le verità stanno venendo a galla e per questo, oltre a un morto di disgusto, sto a vedere che reazione avranno gli italiani, quella brava gente che ha voluo chiudere gli occhi per tanti anni, quando era facile conoscere come stavano le cose.
    Cambiando tema, oggi ho letto su Repubblica la prima puntata di un interessante serial di Alberto Statera sul Vaticano e sulle sue lotte interne, denunciate anche dallo stesso Papa (non è sovversivo sottolineare il marcio che c’è, dato che viene fatto sapere anche dal suo vertice).

    Ricordate anche che tra poco, non sotto i riflettori, arriverà, almeno in Francia, “L’illusionista”.

    Scotland is set to be transformed through the eyes of an Oscar-nominated French animator, as our biggest-ever film production gets its world premiere next month at one of the world’s most prestigious film festivals.
    Four years in the making and delayed several times, The Illusionist is already being hailed as a potential classic of Scottish cinema.
    The animated film is directed by Sylvain Chomet, whose last feature, Belleville Rendez-Vous, received an Oscar nomination. It will receive the red-carpet treatment at the Berlin International Film Festival, the biggest in the world in terms of audience.
    The Illusionist tells the story of an old-fashioned entertainer in Scotland who struggles to find his place in the world as the public deserts his act in favour of rock ’n’ roll. Marginalised, his life changes when he meets a young fan.
    The film, animated in old-style 2D, was made primarily in Edinburgh at Chomet’s Django Films studios above a pub on George Street, with further work done by ink.digital in Dundee and in Paris.
    The film’s production team spent £8 million directly in Scotland. Scottish Screen, the national film agency, has confirmed that this makes The Illusionist the biggest-ever spend on a film here. The Illusionist’s overall budget was “significantly north of £10 million”, according to the film’s producer, Bob Last.
    The film industry expected The Illusionist to be unveiled at several festivals last year. It was rumoured to appear at Cannes, then Venice, and it almost made it to Toronto. Last week, however, it was confirmed that the film would finally show in Berlin, which runs from February 11-20.

    Futurama è una delle serie che preferisco e si merita il premio, anche se quel documentario sul making of è proprio… scemo! Mai prendersi sul serio, eh?
    In complesso, mi sembra che sia stata un’annato ottima per l’animazione, almeno quella “non italica”.
