Domanda: verrà anche pubblicata la famosa storia di Topolino nel paese dei califfi, non molto amata dai recenti vertici Disney perché ritenuta non politicamente corretta?
Sembrerebbe di si e lo si spera venga fatto senza censure o modifiche.
Chissà se arriverà un'edizione Italiana!

A me piu' che quel "Best of" (che e' "il meglio di Topolino", non "il meglio di FloydG") mi da da pensare quella frase "This multi-volume collection brings together the majority of Gottfredson's works, ..."
Mmmhhh... "majority"... "Questa collezione multi-volume raccoglie la maggior parte dei lavori di Gottfredson, ..."

Un'opera comunque monumentale... Suppongo che per sperare in un'edizione italiana non si debba aspettare il termine di quella americana, nevvero? Altrimenti passerebbero dei lustri...

Uhmm...si parla della maggior parte dei lavori di Gottfredson, quindi dovrebbe essere non tutta l'opera....peccato.

Voglio chiedere a David Gerstein se vuole scrivere qualcosa a proposito qui......vediamo!

Caro Luca, penso tu sia l'unico che possa tentare di fare qualcosa affinchè Gottfredson abbia anche qui in Italia (come è stato e continua ad essere per Barks) un'edizione completa (anche se non cronologica - sarebbe chiedere troppo) fatta come si deve, con i dovuti approfondimenti e redazionali.
Perchè è così difficile??

X Stefano Priarone (e gli altri che potrebbero essere interessati): confermo che su Previews di questo mese il volume non c'è, come del resto non era indicato nell'order-form scaricabile dal sito Diamond. Ho lanciato la domanda sul Disney Comics Forum già questa mattina, ma attendo ancora risposte.

La risposta è arrivata, e non è positiva. Copio ed incollo:

I'm sorry to give you bad news, people, but the Gottfredson Library has been postponed for the moment, most likely until next year; that's why it's not in the present PREVIEWS. Barnes and Noble and Amazon should update soon to reflect this situation. They may simply remove the listing until we can give them the new low-down.
I'll give all of you more information when I get it. Believe you me, a delay is disappointing to me, too... though at least we'll have plenty of other Gottfredson reprints this year, including the 1931 "Mickey Mouse, Boxing Champion" in WDC&S, "Death Valley" in WALT DISNEY TREASURES and most likely another story starting in WDC&S before the end of the year.

It's definitely me, fellas and gals. Here at Gemstone we're not sure why Barnes and Noble picked this moment to suddenly illustrate our rough-draft cover. They should have already known that the volume was "on hold."

I hope Dave can give us good news about this Floy Gottfredons issue as soon as possible; indeed, us fans will wait for some months to get the first issue of this collection.

I read also that now, at Gemstone, you're going to distribute a new "Vacation Parade" album and that Disney checks out graphic novel biz, creating titles as basis for film projects.

It says that Walt Disney Studios has created Kingdom Comics and signed a multiyear deal with writer-actor Ahmet Zappa, executive Harris Katleman and writer-editor Christian Beranek to oversee the division.

The aim is to create titles that will be the basis of new film projects for the studio as well as reimagine and rejuvenate movies from the Disney's library of live-action films.

No writers or artists have been announced, though the trio is on the hunt for new and established talent to create the books. Kingdom, which will be located on the Disney lot, has a first-look deal with Disney Publishing Worldwide to distribute the publications. If Disney chooses not to publish a book, Kingdom will explore other venues. Also, there is no set number of graphic novels that are mandated to be published per year.

The studio will pluck titles, putting them into development on a case-by-case basis.

"Some of these exciting publications will be inspired by films and characters in the vast and storied Disney library, while other original graphic novels are sure to spark great ideas for future Disney classics," studio president Oren Aviv said. "Our vision for Kingdom Comics is to bring a fresh, contemporary approach to Disney properties."

The creation of Kingdom Comics positions the studio as a player in the scorching comic book scene. Many studios have aligned themselves to the big companies -- Warner Bros. owns DC Comics, Marvel has a distribution deal with Paramount, Universal has a first-look deal with Dark Horse Comics -- leaving very few players up for grabs. It also will put the company in business with established and untapped talent in what essentially will be a R&D division, letting it develop possible franchises in a way that will cost less than a low-end spec.

Zappa started out as an actor on such shows as "Roseanne" and "Growing Pains" before becoming a host on reality and game shows. In 2006, he sold the rights to his first novel, "The Monstrous Memoirs of a Mighty McFearless," to Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer Films. He is writing the second installment in that series and is executive producing a feature version of "Fraggle Rock" with the Jim Henson Co.
